Book 3 – Part 4 – Labyrinths of Wrath
The group of seven heroes continued to investigate the Labyrinths below Ullester. In a room full of pits, they defeated a hideously deformed goblin with 3 arms that wielded a dagger, a handaxe, and a magical longsword. They deduced that their victim was Koruvus, a champion of the Shank Tooth tribe who had vanished several months ago.
They walked through a shrine to Loptur, then into an immense, underground cathedral that was deathly cold. Within, they encountered an evil quasit that flew into a rage at their intrusion. She dripped her blood into a triangular pool to summon a wrathspawn, then cast a spell to summon a hell hound. Dodge nearly killed the quasit with his axe, but she flew into the air and turned invisible, eventually escaping. Meanwhile, Glenlivet killed the wrathspawn and Dodge killed the hell hound. There were two doors in the cathedral, each trapped. They successfully bypassed the traps and collected a horde of coins and gems.
On their way out, they investigated a strange room that was actually a 15-foot-diameter sphere. Kyran retrieved several objects that were floating within: a bottle of mead from Hwychwood Bewery; a scroll with a Burning Hands spell; a wand with a forked tip; and an ancient book that seemed to be dedicated to the worship of Loptur, the Mother of Monsters.
They exited the labyrinth and the glaswerks, then joined the Ullester War Council at the Meadhall. They were debriefed, then they participated in discussions to prepare Ullester for defense against an impending invasion. Before returning to the Drunken Dragon for a night of rest, Magna, Kyran and Yriadel visited Siden Mildthreth to ask questions about Loptur and Vargdropor. In the morning, on their way to the glaswerks, they met with Pratt of Elderwood to ask questions about the labyrinths. They returned to the tunnels and finally found the old smuggler’s tunnels, which was now being used by goblins.
Later that day, they rode with Anika-Shae and Hucky Buck to the Thistle River crossing. They traveled on foot through Nettlewood, then crossed a rope bridge to Thistletop Island. Using stealth, they entered the Thistletop Stockade and silently killed some sentries in the two guard towers.
